Home group evenings for October Dear Vine
As you may remember we are having a change to our usual Home group evenings for October. We agreed to have a selection of themed groups for people to sign up to for the month. I have been given several ideas but do not as yet have people to lead all these groups.
The themes so far are
Anxiety/worry Finance/Money Craft/creativity Study on small book in Bible Prayer How to hear God speaking Learning New worship songs Poetry/song/psalm writing
Do you feel as though you can lead a group of people on one of these topics for a few weeks? Is there something not listed that you would like to share with others?
Another suggestion has been to have a shared meal with a different group of people each week as an opportunity to get to know others in the fellowship and also share communion together. Would you be willing to host a group like this?
If the answer is yes to any of the above questions or you would like to talk more about it please let me know as soon as possible so I can begin to get things finalised.
many thanks
Claire
Update on Cat & Mary
After a difficult year, and a few months back in the UK due to Mary's Dad being critically ill, Cat & Mary are heading back to a new area of India in 2 weeks time. They will be going to Orissa, an area where rebel forces are active, and conversion to Christianity is illegal. They will be working alongside a children's development centre in a very rural area (no internet access, little mobile phone reception & no shops!) and starting a new work. Obviously whilst there they intend to model what it is like to be a follower of Jesus to the local people, continue to provide healthcare to children and stand up for justice for some of the poorest children in India.
They have some specific prayer requests
1) Their physical safety in an unpredictable place, their health (currently an outbreak of malaria & Dengue fever in this area), and spiritual protection in a spiritually dark & oppressive place 2) Long term volunteers to work alongside them in India & most urgent & specifically a PA who can manage all the admin associated with running a charity 3) Visas - the rules have all changed yet again(!) and so another set of red tape needs to be worked through.. 4) God's guidance, wisdom, grace, discernment & courage to know His will for each and every day that they are there.
Thank you so much for your prayer and financial support. I spent this weekend with them, and they said several times how they have been so blessed by the Vine - they can't get over how generous you have been so thank you! If you'd like more detailed information please just ask me, they will sending another newsletter soon. Helen
You can’t think, “That’s just me. That’s how I am or what I’m like!” If you look at your soul as a garden with all sorts of stuff growing – far more that you realised – then some things will grow strong, others will shrink and wither according to how you treat them. – Do I nurse and feed and care for all that is good – and do I burn, knock on the head, cut down all that is not good? – because the longer I live, I will find stuff growing in me that is poisonous and destructive and other stuff that was really wonderful gradually disappearing – or the reverse according to what I’m aiming at. Our hope and support is in the name of Jesus and the strength and encouragement of the Holy Spirit.. An introduction to the next bit of Acts.
