All Aboard

Thoughts on the church meeting on 22nd Nov 2009

ALL ABOARD   -     by Len Elphick.

OBSERVE THE ‘VINE’ a Fellowship

Whereon we seek to serve and sail

Proud in the knowledge that we keep

A steady course through waters deep

Following a chart that cannot fail.

Each to our appointed tasks

Some so lowly some so high

All are needed lest the ship

Should falter at the slightest dip

When stormy seas are high.

The deck awash whilst up aloft

The sails are set and trimmed

To clear the dangerous rocks ahead

For we have no cause to dread

Nor shall our guiding lamp be dimmed

Pray Lord keep us on our course

And help us play our part

Maintaining this our vessel proud

With joyous tongues we sing aloud

To the Captain of our hearts

We face together the testing times

Through Summer sun and Winter nights

We forge ahead through fearsome gales

Aloft once more to shorten sails

And keep our compass pointing right

Thanks be to God there on the bridge

For ‘tis His hand upon the helm

And surely He will navigate

Our fellow-ship both true and straight

And all doubts overwhelm.

So into that safe harbour sail

Drop anchor in the bay

Our vessel now part of a fleet

Prepared to battle and defeat

Our enemies this day

O Lord our God in you we trust

A brighter future now we face

With certainty of victory

Working for the life to be

Rejoicing we have run the race.
