Poem is Love's Path
|
Love's Path
This pasture bordered leafy way, where autumn has its mantle cast
And murm'ring brook with crystal song convey my lonely hearts repast
The sunkissed flurry of the breeze cannot deflect my spirit's flight Eager waits 'pon wooded glade, so come to me before the night
Speed forth my love to this our trysting place, stay here where seasons chill
Touch not the summer of our love on golden carpet warmer still
Need we no touch of hand, no glance of eye for all is said in silent prayer
And to the bedecked cloud above we dance in turn each fashioned layer
Swift draws the day upon its close, God's canvas of the heavens afire
And bird and beast seek now to rest and men to mortal sleep retire But in the heart of love's delight
The spirit reigns - there is no night
